12. On 9 August My neighbour and I saw Russian soldiers and there was a dialogue between us:
We: What's the matter?
Russian soldiers: Is Georgia near here?
We: This is Georgia, we are Georgians.
Russian soldiers: Is the capital far from here?
We: Yes
Russian soldiers: Get out of here if you are Georgians and want to save your lives.
At the same time Russian aircrafts ware attacking us, I heard some shots and explosions. The soldiers broke shops and robbed them, they spoke Russian.
There were Ossetians following Russian army beating, killing, robbing civilians and destroying their houses. I ran to the forest to save my life. One of my neighbours, Omar Babutsidze (patronic name – Sandro) refused to escape with us saying that he would shake hands with anyone, a Russian or an Ossetian and they would not harm him. Next day we were told that his body had been seen in front of his gate with his head cut.
As concerns my property I had in Achabeti: 2 cows with its calves, sheep, a tractor with its plough, a house and a garden. The approximate value of my property is 80,000$, I had an income of about 8,000$ per year.

I left my house on 6th of August because of the bombardments. Russian armed forces entered Georgian territory and started bombing us. This lasted for two days. One bomb even got into my neighbor's house, his two rooms are damaged and his leg is wounded. At this time Georgian soldiers were not nearby and there was no fighting going on, - invasion happened suddenly after what we left.

The reason why I am a refugee now is the invasion of Russian armed forces into my village. They were accompanied by Ossetian separatists who were breaking into our homes, stealing everything and burning our houses down. Russian tanks were all around the village with Ossetian people being happy because of that. That's why we left the village and walked for 3 days and 3 nights through the marshland and yards. When we got out of the marshland we encountered Ossetians, who were hiding in some kind of a blind alley. There were 12 of us standing in front of Ossetians. They offended old people – pointed at us with the guns and cursed at us in Ossetian as well as Georgian languages. They took one young man aside and beat him to death, then confiscated his cell phone, which he took the pictures of our trip with. His name was Dato Mindiashvili. He was returned to us after hours of begging and crying. He was ina terrible condition. Afterwards, we continued our way through the mud, bushes and yards until we got to the village called Sveneti. At this point we saw Russian tanks, huge vehicles with artillery machines attached to them. They stopped us as well and started throwing shoes at us and pointing guns. They were crying in Russian, yelling at us. Finally they let us go and we got to Tbilisi.
